In Painting McCartney, Maggie Barnes artistically explores the human drive to capture the intangible. Drawing upon Paul McCartney’s other-than-Beatles music, for each album series she renders one painting per song, reflecting on lyrics, research, and personal history. She then creates one larger piece to anchor each album series, inspired by the location where the music was recorded.
Ultimately, this project will serve as a visual representation of Paul McCartney's vast catalog of music outside of the Beatles - and a way to wrap one's brain around those 750+ (and ever-expanding number of!) songs. |
